Flat on my Back

This post is coming to you from my sofa.  I am presently lying flat, hopped up on muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories.

Here’s what I’ve learned over the past few days.  Your low back is involved in pretty much EVERY movement you make.  The last time I had this sensation was right after I had my C-section to deliver the boys.  I can’t move without something twinging or feeling really sore.

My present back issues also present some problems when trying to take care of 3 active children, two of which are still in diapers and can’t dress themselves.  The boys also have no comprehension of the fact that Mommy is not at 100%, so they periodically do things such as throw themselves on me.

However, I was reminded today at work of the fact that although I am in pain right now, there are so many people that have it much, much worse.  There are so many families dealing with job losses, displacement from their homes due to the September hurricane, divorces (and custody battles)….and the list goes on and on.

My back will heal.  I just have to have a little patience.  (Alas, patience…..not my strongest trait….)
